Guest Starring... J.S. Wayne!
Indigo Skye: Ink and Art
Welcomes Author J.S. Wayne!
Q: If you could have a hot one-night stand with any fictional character you've created, who would you choose, and why?
A: Robyn Latimore, wife of the main character in my first novel ever. She's a gorgeous redhead, sweet, kind, and caring, without sacrificing any eroticism.
Q: What's the most unusual place you've ever had sex?
A: A Geo Metro, in the parking garage of a bank building in Las Vegas, with another couple in the front. It was...ahem...interesting (and an exercise in "my spine doesn't bend THAT way!").
Q: Laughing. Maybe I should have asked, "What's the most unusual place you've ever had GOOD sex!" So, J.S., tell me one of your sizzling secrets for turning readers on...
A: I don't believe you can make the reader feel something you don't feel. For that reason, I write what turns me on. I find that it's much easier to create a believable scene that way. Also, I like to really linger on the details; taste, sight, scent, and touch. If I can see, feel, touch and taste it, so can the reader.
Q: I'd love to know about your writing life... Do you follow a set schedule every day, or just write when inspiration strikes?
A: Optimally, I write every day. When I start to find my inspiration dwindling, I move on to another project. With the erratic schedule of my day job, I pretty much have to write when and where I can. Even if it's scribbling on a napkin on my break.
Q: Where do you do most of your writing?
A: I have a home office. An ashtray, a desk, a laptop, a chair, and Mountain Dew or Budweiser as the mood strikes me. Perfect.
Q: Do you have any writing rituals, quirks or tricks to help you get started and stay excited about a project?
A: My only hard and fast ritual revolves around the music I play. The Unicron Medley by Vince DiCola always starts it off. Other than that, if I've had an idea bouncing around in my head for more than two or three days, I know it's probably a good one and I go with it.
Q: Your best strategy for beating writer's block...
A: Mercedes Lackey, through Diana Tregarde, in Jinx High: "I don't believe in writers' block. ...Writer's block is just an excuse for not wanting to sit down and do the damn work."
I have times when I don't feel like writing; I have times when life prevents me from writing. (Go to work, wife's sick, dog has to go to the vet, and have you paid that bill yet?) But ultimately, if I didn't get anything written on a given day, I have no one and nothing to blame but myself.
Q: Tell our readers about your sexy new release from Noble Romance...
A: My first release from Noble is a Naughty Nibble entitled "Angels Would Fall." It's about an angel of death who falls in love with the woman whose soul he is supposed to take to Heaven. When her time comes, will he choose his love for her over his duty?
Q: Any advice for new writers hoping to break into the business?
A: Anybody can write. It takes hard work, effort, and time to write well. Do what you're doing, but always do it with an eye to getting better at your craft. Don't be afraid to ask for advice, opinions, or beta readers. Put yourself out there. Who knows what you'll learn or who you'll meet? And remember, spell check is your friend!
Q: Upcoming projects you can't wait to dish about...
A: I've got so many projects it's hard to know WHAT to talk about. I've got a number of short stories and no less than six different novel ideas in the horror and erotic romance genres brewing, in the works, or under consideration.
Q: What's the interview question no one ever asks, that you'd like to answer right now for our readers?
A: No, I'm not gay.
Q: Best way to relax after a hard day hitting the page?
A: I like to read, hang out with my friends, play table-top role-playing games (especially White Wolf games), play video games, have a couple of drinks, or spend time with my wife and puppy.
Q: Your secret little guilty pleasure...
A: I have a serious weakness for cheesecake. Put a redhead and a cheesecake in front of me, and it's a toss-up which way I'm heading! Laughing.
Q: What's your favorite book to read in the bathtub?
A: Anything out of the Dresden Files, by Jim Butcher.

Guest Starring... Gianna Simone!
Indigo Skye: Ink and Art
Welcomes Author Gianna Simone!
Q: If you could have a hot one-night stand with any fictional character you've created, who would you choose, and why?
A: Tough one, but I think I might go with Royce Langley, the hero in my very first medieval, The Heart of the Panther. He is a typical jerky alpha-male (my favorite kind of hero! LOL!) who trusts no women, and finds himself turned inside out by the slip of a half-Welsh girl the king orders him to wed.
Q: What's the most unusual place you've ever had sex?
A: This brings to mind that old Newlyweds episode, which was supposedly an urban legend, but turned out to be true, I believe, where the wife answered "in the butt!" or something like that. Sorry, that was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the question! I'm easily distracted! Anyway, it's not really that unusual, it was the back seat of a car – though I was no longer in my teens and the car was parked in the parking deck of my office.
Q: Tell me your sizzling secrets for turning readers on...
A: I just write what I want to read. No secret there. I wish I had some wild plan, it might make the revising process less painful!
Q: Do you follow a set schedule every day, or just write when inspiration strikes?
A: I try to write every day, but it isn't always possible. I work full time and have two kids, so time is at a premium. The bulk of it is done after 10:00 p.m. when everyone's all settled in for the night. Or early weekend mornings – I don't often sleep late on the weekends, but everyone else does, so that usually gives me a few hours too.
Q: Where do you do most of your writing?
A: In the family room, in the little corner that serves as my office (and that I have to share with homework) although if it gets quiet at work, I have been known to crank out a few pages there as well.
Q: Do you have any writing rituals, quirks or tricks to help you get started and stay excited about a project?
A: Basically, I get an idea, and I go with it. Just keep going. I didn't used to do that, I used to stop and plan every chapter, choreograph each scene, and detail. Took me forever to finish, especially since my books tend to be long. But in the last couple of years, each book I've written, I got started and even though I knew I had to revise things, I just wrote beginning to end non-stop. And I can crank out a lot of words in 4-6 weeks if I don't stop, my average for the last few was around 90K for the first draft. Once I hit the end, I don't have such anxiety over revising. It's been working well for me, so I'm sticking with it.
Q: Your best strategy for beating writer's block...
A: Just dig right in. I literally force myself to start to edit, or add to a half-finished scene. Once I'm going for a page or two, I can usually get caught up in the story and get to it. If that doesn't work, shut it off, go have a few drinks and cigarettes for the frustration, and come back tomorrow.
Q: Tell our readers about your sexy new release from Noble Romance...
A: Healing the Mage is about Aidan Marchand, a newly diagnosed Mage who had no time to prepare for the maturing of his powers, which can be dangerous, since the process is really, really painful. Lily Prentiss, an Enchantress with inborn healing powers stumbles across him while he's caught in the agonizing process, and her touch eases his pain. Problem is, Lily doesn't want anything to do with magic, she's afraid of her gift.
Q: Any advice for new writers hoping to break into the business?
A: Funny you should ask this. I just reconnected with an elementary school classmate, and I told him pretty much the same thing I'm going to share here. First and foremost learn everything you can – I suggest finding a local writer's group, preferably one that is familiar with your genre, and just be a sponge. Soak up everything you can – take classes, work with critique partners, read, read, read. And don't give up. I almost did, literally, and I'm really glad I allowed my support network to get me through that rough patch – I wouldn't be here now without them.
Q: Upcoming projects you can't wait to dish about...
A: The main project I'm working on right now is a medieval set in 13th century England, involving a Scottish warrior on a path of revenge, and the English lass who throws a wrench into his plans – though not by her choice. And I also have the beginning of the first book in a sci-fi series I've been adding to when the time is available.
Q: What's the interview question no one ever asks, that you'd like to answer right now for our readers?
A: That's a really hard one. I suppose being asked about my kids is rare. They are the joy of my life, and at times, the biggest frustration as well. I have a teenage daughter who can't stand that I know more about the Harry Potter books and fandom than she does, but at least I know where she gets her obsessiveness from. My little guy is six, and for now, I still can do no wrong in his eyes.
Q: Best way to relax after a hard day hitting the page?
A: A beer or glass of wine and a smoke. Or two.
Q: Your secret little guilty pleasure...
A: If I told you, it wouldn't be secret anymore, would it! I have a few of those, but what comes to mind now is The Wizards of Waverly Place, I love that show! And iCarly too, when they're on, I can't not watch!
Q: What's your favorite book to read in the bathtub?
A: Can't remember the last time I indulged in a bath! I want one now, just thinking about it. But the reading would have to be a magazine – I use my Sony Reader almost exclusively now, and that's not getting anywhere near the tub!

Guest Starring... Nichelle Gregory!
Diamonds, danger and desire take my heroine and hero by storm in Hearts & Diamonds, my latest contemporary release with Total E-Bound! As an author, there's nothing more exciting than writing a story that simply flows...no creative blocks, no wild detours taken by the characters or plot...just a great tale that unfolds like magic!
This doesn't happen with every book written, so when it does, it's pretty special. Hearts & Diamonds will always be one of my favourite stories for that very reason. The premise for the story was inspired by my own life experience. When I was in college, I worked for a jewelry store and I can honestly say I loved the job! I enjoyed learning about all the precious stones, gold, platinum and of course diamonds!
I especially loved the fact that anyone who stepped up to the counter was either there to celebrate a happy occasion- newlywed couples were my absolute fave...or something sparkly had caught their eye in the window. I liked the challenge of finding a piece of jewelry that those window shoppers just simply had to have.
I also learned how to protect myself against would be jewel thieves. Did you know the jewelry industry loses more than 100 million dollars a year in stolen goods?
I know...pretty crazy! Anyway, those memories of my former job sparked my muse and thus the storyline for Hearts & Diamonds unfolded - A jewelry heist that brings two people together and changes the course of their lives forever!
I love my heroine, Nia, she's placed in a terrifying situation, but she's not a weak, helpless female. When her routine life intersects with Quin, she's not afraid to go after what she wants...namely him!
And Quin! He's totally alpha...closed off and about business...government business. He's a federal agent, you see, and he's all about his job...well, at least until Nia rips through his red tape. The chemistry between these two is explosive! There's scorching hot sex, dangerous thrills and a heart-warming ending awaiting your reading pleasure in Hearts & Diamonds!
Passion sparks the moment Nia Sanders unknowingly meets federal agent Quin Rios.
Nia Sanders knows diamonds. She appreciates and envies the heart-felt emotions of her customers buying them. When federal agent, Quin Rios saves her life in the middle of a violent jewel heist, she finds herself attracted to the sensual possibilities beneath his uber professional, self-contained persona.
Determined to keep her safe as he solves the case, Quin can't let his attraction to Nia distract him. The heat of their fiery passion consumes them as they both struggle to control their emotions...neither are prepared to lose their heart.
Here's a A Steamy Excerpt from Hearts and Diamonds:
Nia gasped as her mouse slipper slipped beneath her and she stumbled towards Quin. The water hit him seconds before she fell to her knees in front of him. “I am so sorry.” She blinked in sheer mortification as the liquid seeped into the dark fabric on his thighs. Her gaze drifted further up his leg to see the unmistakable bulge inches away from her.
“It’s okay.”
Nia dragged her eyes up from his pants to meet his heated gaze. “No, it’s not.”
Quin ran his finger down the tip of her nose. “It is. I needed to cool off anyway.”
A ribbon of desire coursed along every nerve ending in her body as he stood up and offered both hands. “Let me help you up.”
She took them, visualising an actual spark of electricity from his touch as he yanked her up from the ground. “Thanks, Quin.” She lifted her chin, saw the same longing in his eyes and something twisted in her stomach as they stared at one another. She laced her fingers with his as time stood still. “Kiss me.”
The whispered request shocked her. She waited with baited breath for him to move, her words, her heart lay before him. Just when she would’ve pulled away, he groaned and pulled her against his chest.
His hands skimmed up her arms, into her hair as he kissed her. She melted into him, wrapped her arms around his neck and welcomed his fierce kiss. He took over and she wanted him to. Her moan of pleasure only encouraged him to delve deeper, tasting and stroking her tongue as he backed her up against the dining room wall. She could barely breathe, lost in the rhythm of his masterful kisses. One hand left her hair to cup her ass, kneading the soft curve beneath her dress. She ran her hands through his hair, loving the feel of the thick texture between her fingers as he pressed his hard cock against her belly.
“You’re so sexy,” Quin said, breaking away to look down at her.
“Ditto.” She closed her eyes as he claimed her lips again, this time in a soft, sensual caress that left her boneless. He ended the kiss and her body craved more.
“Quin…” She sighed as his lips brushed her temple.
“Nia—”
The shrill sound of her phone ringing broke the moment, stopped her from making another brazen request of his body. She pulled away from his embrace to reach for the handheld laying on the dining room table. “Hello?”
“I needed those diamonds.”
Nia froze.
The cold voice on the other end of the line was unmistakable.
“Tess?” She whipped around to look at Quin already on alert as he tapped his watch and indicated for her to keep on talking. “Where are you?”
“Closer than you think.”
The line went dead as Nia stared at Quin. She handed him the phone in a daze.
“What did she say?”
“She said she ‘needed’ those diamonds. I think she threatened me.”
“Tell me exactly what she said.” He took out his cell as she repeated the conversation. She watched him for a second, noting how easy it was for him to shift gears. Could he really have just given her the best damn kisses of her life? One wouldn’t think it’d happened now as he relayed what had happened and gave out orders to whoever was on the other line.
